Amazing! (Yes, that’s for Joz. She has the best laugh ever! Someone needs to make a Joz laugh compilation, please!) I’m utterly obsessed with these, they’re fantastic. I’ve listened to many other RPG podcasts, and they can take a long time to get into because they need to setup the characters, setting, and story, but by using well-known movies you guys skip those issues and get right into the meat of things. Brilliant! Keep up the great work, and all the best to you.
Glad you like it! Yeah, a Joz laugh compilation would be phenomenal.
Oh man. I find my own laugh ridiculous enough that when listening to the episodes, I often crack up at my crazy cackle… A whole compilation- that would likely start a crazy laugh ouroboros…
can one laugh themself into madness?
Hey Paulo, I really like your version of Oz but I gotta wonder, did you read the Dark Tower series by Stephen King? He also seemed to have quite an interesting approach to the story of Oz and I feel like atmospherically it kind of shares similarities with your story. 😀
I read Dark Tower a long time ago. It was not a conscious inspiration for this episode, but now that you mention it I agree there’s some Dark Tower in there.
Hi Paulo (and the others!),
This podcast is such an amazing find! I’m so glad I came across it. All of you are absolutely amazing and I’m spreading your gospel as fast as I can.
I’m sure it’s been brought up, but… have you considered Star Wars?
Thanks Daniel! Star Wars and Lord of the Rings are what we get asked about the most. We will definitely do them, but we’re saving them for a special occasion (read: for when we’re more experienced at doing the show.)
I would like to thank all of you for creating this podcast. It is one of the highlights of my months when I get to listen to an hour and a half of insanity.
I’ve never had the pleasure of being in a tabletop RPG and listening to you guys is an absolute delight.
You can tell you guys are really hitting your stride as the quality of each episode increases. I hope you will continue creating this series for a long time to come.
Absolutely brilliant! You guys are one of my favorite, if not my favorite, podcast groups to listen to. I especially love how deep and complex the world of Oz has become. Keep up the great work and I look forward to the next release!
Also, have you guys considered the following for future podcasts: Armageddon, Deep Impact, Apollo 13, Glory, or Saving Private Ryan.
Hey, I recently discovered this podcast and I’ve been really really enjoying it and it’s unique premise.
When listening to this episode however I have noticed you made a few jokes about gender identification (one of them being “he identifies as dead”, witch is the one that made me the most uncomfortable/kinda caught me off guard), and while I have been trying to make myself just ignore them, I’d be lying if I said those comments haven’t been really bothering me as a trans person and impacting my enjoyment of the rest of this episode, like I kinda can’t get it out of my mind now? (such jokes really only make sense if one believes trans people aren’t actually the gender they identify as and the word “identifies” means “is not actually”, so I don’t think it can be called “just a joke”, intentional or not).
I’m not trying to accuse anyone of anything, and I realize that the comment was probably just made thoughtlessly with no malicious intent (I hope), and I don’t expect a response or anything, I just felt like typing this to feel better about it I guess, idk.
Hey, I just very recently discovered this podcast and I have been really enjoying it and it’s unique premise.
In this episode however I have noticed that you made several jokes about gender identification (the one that specifically bothered me and caught me of guard the most was “he identifies as dead”, where “identifies as” is very clearly being used as a synonym for “isn’t actually/is pretending to be”). I have been trying to make a good faith effort to just ignore those comments but I just can’t help but keep thinking about them, as a trans person it really bothered me, especially since I have been otherwise really enjoying the podcast. (what makes jokes of this kind different than others, is they only really make any sense if one believes that trans peoples genders are actually fake)
I’m not really trying to accuse anyone of anything, I do understand this probably was just a thoughtless comment with no real malice behind it, I’m just writing this because I was so bothered by that comment so I feel this will make me feel better I guess.
oops double post my bad, it didn’t appear the first time
Suggestion: If you know it’s not malicious, take it as a joke.
If you disagree, I curse you with the ability to make any comment you wish for humorous purposes.
Anyway, you may be wondering that I’m objecting to your objection to humour.
I’m not.
I just wish to point out it is much more convenient for yourself and others to adapt to environments rather than ask environments to adapt to you.
suggestion: learn to look at a situation from someone else’s point of view, a skill that many call “empathy”.
if you disagree, I further suggest an investigation into reading comprehension. Tiffany was pointing out an instance where the cast (iirc, all cis people, but decent cis people) made an insensitive joke, and she specifically states that she didn’t expect change, just respect.
Anyways, you may be wondering that I’m objecting to your objection to Tiffany’s objection to a thoughtless comment.
I am.
As this is a podcast created and consumed by thinking human beings, not an objective environment we find ourselves in with no control or comment over, I’m of the opinion that encouraging open minds and respect is, in fact, a positive move. The comments Tiffany mentioned rankled & distracted me as well on my first listen, and definitely affected my enjoyment of the episode. While this podcast is made by people whose goal is (rightly imo) to have a good time and tell a good story, not cater to the demands of every listener, pointing out comments like this, where it truly doesn’t seem like a topic where the cast has a wide knowledge of what made the joke insensitive, is constructive and helpful.
If you disagree, I curse you with like even an ounce of self-awareness dude, seriously.
I for one thought “He identifies as dead” an excellent jest.

Just found this podcast. Enjoying it so far.
Just wanted to mention that Lydia’s voice sounds like John Malkovich at times 🙂
